Is There Anything Spray Paint Can't Do?

No. No there isn't. Spray paint is a gift from heaven.

I went to Goodwill last week to see what I could find. I've been looking for a file cabinet for a couple of weeks. I actually found one a few weeks ago but I didn't have my husband with me to haul it. When I went back the next day, it was gone. You gotta be quick at the Goodwill. But last week they had another one! It had just been put on the floor as I was walking in... it was meant to be. But the file cabinet redo is for another post (it turned out awesome though, you'll love it). This post is about a lovely little box. It was $1.96 at Goodwill. After my trip to Goodwill, I went to Walmart to get some groceries and found fabric squares on clearance (I needed fabric for another project, so I grabbed a bunch. My life consists of nothing but projects. And chocolate.) for $0.50. I had spray paint at home, of course. So I went to work.

There isn't a picture of just the box.  I'm hoping this picture is enough to show you that it's a sad little box, but it has potential.  I painted it white and took out the fabric square in the middle.  I quickly found out that the previous owner had attempted a makeover of their own on this box:

Look at the little quilted apple.  I think this may have belonged to my grandmother a few years ago.  I swapped out the fabric with my awesome clearance find and stuffed a little polyfil in it.  The polyfil is a bit lumpy, but I don't know how to fix that.  It's OK though... it gives it character.  The final result, FOR UNDER $3 TOTAL, was this:

I think if I had some hot pink embellishments, this would be perfect for a teenage daughter.  Since I have neither a teenage daughter or embellishments, I'll stick with this.  This project was cheap and quick!  I love a good Goodwill transformation!

*I have received messages from people that say that their Goodwill doesn't have any good stuff.  I feel for you.  For every five trips I take to Goodwill, I will find maybe one thing that I want to make a project out of.  You have to stay vigilant and keep trying... it's for a good crafty cause.
