I Only Mop When I'm Forced To.

My husband does the mopping. He's a good guy. He has no choice though, as I just won't do it. I have actual, real, not made-up reasons, but mostly I just don't want to. Just keepin' it real.

The Libman company sent me a mop to test. They are actually located in the next county and I see the Libman factory every year during the town's Broom Corn Festival. Broom Corn... That's what the locals call it.

Anyhoo, I decided to take one for the team and give this mop a whirl. Also, the husband wasn't home, so I had no one to do it for me.

The Freedom! Spray Mop.  'Freedom from what?' I ask myself silently.  I'm a hopeless cynic.

The "freedom" to which they are referring is this: there aren't any refill spray solution bottles to purchase, there are no batteries, and you use whatever you like to clean your floor.  I have used another spray mop in the past that needed refills and batteries and guess what happened to it?  Who knows... but I didn't keep it.  I don't like a mop that needs maintenance, so I was already on board with this one.

Oh, and since I hate suspense, I went online to see what people were already saying about this mop.  The reviews were mostly favorable, but I did see one that said she had trouble removing the solution container.  So that was the first thing to try:

It popped right out.  My six-year old was able to do it.  So that review proved unhelpful.  It was then that I decided to live my own life and not rely on others' experiences.  Also, I couldn't find that webpage again.  Moving on.

I think a HUGE selling point to this mop is that you can use your own solution.  For people who try to go green, chemical-free, or have a certain solution they like to use, this is perfect.  And you can use hot water in it, which makes it much easier to clean.  What I'm saying is, I'm starting to get what the "freedom" means.

This is the before of the mop pad.  It's washable and reusable, another great feature if you like to go the green route.

I'm about to show you the 'before' picture of the floor.  I'm only showing you this because I feel adamant about keeping it real.  Deep breath, readers...

Um, can I just say that we cleaned this floor last Saturday?  With a steam mop... the one that has the awesome infomercial? This is atrocious.  And I'm showing it to you.  That's what I'm willing to do for you.  You're welcome.

Jonathan had to help.  The trigger to spray the solution is easy to pull, which is great.

Easy enough for a two-year old, evidently.  The spray has a pretty good range too, which I found interesting since it's manual and not battery-operated.  Here's the after picture.  Thank goodness.

I tried to show dirty, unmopped floor next to clean, mopped floor, but my camera is lame-sicles.  That's what my six-year old called it.  Lame-sicles.  If you look though, you can definitely see where we mopped and where we didn't.  Plus, I added arrows.  I like the arrows.

Ummm... the mop works.  It actually works really well.  There is a spot under the rug in front of the sink that was so awful, and even the steam mop with the awesome infomercial couldn't clean it up.  I didn't take a picture of it because I didn't figure there would be any change between mopped and unmopped.

It got it all.  Completely.  I was actually surprised, and I'm not the type of girl who is surprised by a mop.

Here's the thing... I wanted to have a pros and cons list for you.  I wanted to find the weak points and let you know about them so that you're completely informed... but there isn't a con.  Honestly.  I'm not being paid to say this... no con.

You know what? I just thought of a con.  It doesn't do laundry.  So that's something.

WE JUST STEAM-MOPPED THIS ON SATURDAY. DID I MENTION THAT? I'm going to find where they film that infomercial and rub their noses in this.

**Libman sent me this mop to try out, because they're awesome and I can be quite charming.  They haven't compensated me in any other way and all opinions are my own.

UPDATE: After we mopped last night, I threw the mop pad in the wash to see how it holds up to being laundered.  After letting it dry flat overnight, it looks almost like new... and now the kids want to mop again.
