The simplest (and cheapest) projects are sometimes the best... not because they're the simplest, but because they actually look really good. This is one of those projects that just turned out great!
All you'll need is black streamers. I used just one roll. Cheapy-McCheaperson.
This project is for a window. If you're having a Halloween party (I'm anxiously awaiting my invitation), measure the length of the window in the party room for this project. My window measured just about 48" long, so that's what I cut my strips to. Lucky me, the length of my kitchen table was exactly 48", so cutting was simple.
Cut up the whole roll. (I love when things rhyme, I sound all poetic.)
Field several questions from family members about whether you'll really use all those streamers.
Take one strip, stretch it out just a little bit, and then start snipping the sides. You don't have to cut any out of the streamer, just a little line will do the trick.
By the end, your streamer will have cuts all along the sides.
Then, crumple it up. Oh yeah, crumple that sucker.
There is something satisfying to me about crumpling crepe paper. It's possible that I need therapy.
Un-crumple it, not worrying too much about straightening it out all the way. Just un-crumple it (I have used a non-word twice in one post. I'm totally winning a pulitzer for this post.) until it's the right length, and you're on the right track.
Start attaching them to your window. I used regular old Scotch Tape to attach it to the curtain rod, but you can use whatever you have on hand. Put them all up and stand back to admire the awesomeness.
They look spookier in person. They would be perfect for a Halloween party, and they're so cheap and easy! I got a little fancy and tied them back a bit...
My son came home from school and I asked him if they looked spooky... he said, "No, they look really good. We should just keep them up."
So, OK... maybe I'll get a roll of white streamers to make a new set of curtains.

You're very imaginative, that will work well for a party as well. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteAwesome paper curtains!!!
ReplyDeleteOk, I'm giggling at the fact that you tied the spooky curtains back to make them look pretty! I so would have done that too! :)
ReplyDeleteSo creative, thanks for sharing!
