25 Days of Christmas - Noel Art.

I'm calling it art because I suffered for it. Truly.

This project is really simple.  Before I started crafting, I didn't know a lot of the tricks I know now.  So when I had the great idea for this project, I kinda sorta messed it up.  And then I cried.  Now, I know a couple of tricks... so my art is finally finished.

I bought wood letters at Hobby Lobby at 50% off.  They have those letters on sale all the time, which is great because when I messed it up the first time, I had to replace the letters... if they had been too expensive, I might not have done it again.  I had scrapbook paper, mod podge and glitter on hand.  So, I went to work.
So, the project I had in mind the first time was just spray painting these letters red.  Simple enough, right?  Yeah... I hadn't had a lot of experience with spray paint.  And did you know that if you're spray painting outside on a very cold day, the spray paint actually freezes on the surface?  Well, it does.  I know better now.  I've also learned the wonders of mod podge, so if it's too cold outside, I improvise.

I traced the letters out onto the scrapbook paper.  I traced them upside down so the letter would be right when it was turned over.
I brushed on some mod podge...
I mod podged the paper letter...
And stuck it on.
More mod podge over the top and then I sprinkled on some glitter.
Once that was done, all I had left to do was let it dry.
These turned out really great! I fastened them all to each other and have them on display...
Too cute!  And I did it all from my warm and cozy kitchen.

  1. I knew there was a temperature restriction on spray paint but I didn't know it would actually freeze! Your letters turned out great with the scrapbook paper alternative and glitter.

  4. Great tips, thanks. I won't try painting outside if it's cold, never thought of it! I love the NOEL, it's gorgeous red.

I love all the comments I get from you! Because of an insane amount of spam, I had to turn off anonymous commenting but I'd love it if you'd comment anyway!
