I found this pin and thought it was worth a try. Instead of making the rub myself, I just used a packaged rub, which I got on sale which made me very happy. I like to say 'which'.
This packaged rub is a 'bag and season' sort of thing... since I cooked the chicken in the crockpot, I had the bag leftover. So I made up a game called 'watch mommy walk around with an unused cooking bag, unsure of what she should do with it'. I don't like to brag, but I totally won.
I rubbed the chicken with the seasoning... I gave that bird the massage of its life.
I sprayed the crockpot with some non-stick cooking spray, then I plopped the whole bird into the crockpot.
I put the lid on the crockpot and set it on low. After about 6 hours, the internal temperature of the chicken said it was done and so did my husband who was hungry and impatient.
This was pretty good... the skin wasn't crispy, which did make me sad. I loves some crispy skin. But since it was in a crockpot, I shouldn't have expected it. It was really moist. And yummy. I ate more than I should have. And it was so simple. Give it a try!

OMG that looks really good! I need tou buy a crockpot asap! This looks so easy <3
ReplyDeleteThanks for entering my giveaway!!!
Oooh this looks so good. I imagine it to taste like a rotisserie chicken. No water in the crockpot correct? It doesn't seem like it but I just making sure because I want to try this!
ReplyDeleteThat looks so good! I'm coming over for dinner! I am going to try this!
ReplyDeleteI also cook the chicken in the crockpot without any rub - just put the whole chicken in with a little salt and pepper (or Everglades seasoning) and set on low for 6 hours or so. Then I take the meat off the bone and freeze in individual packages. When I want to make a meal with cooked chicken (or the recipe wants you to cook the chicken and then add other ingredients) - just pull it out and go on with your recipe. Easy Peasey!
ReplyDeleteBTW - thanks for the kind comment you made on my blog earlier today - it is much appreciated!

Wow, that looks good! This may be my first crockpot meal - I've had one since August and haven't used it yet.
ReplyDeleteI just made this recipe yesterday and my family loved it! I had never cooked a chicken like this in the crockpot.I wasn't really too sure about not adding any water and was afraid it would dry out but it came out perfect. Thank you for the recipe.
ReplyDeleteI love CrockPot Chicken. To crisp up the skin a bit, vent the crock pot by slipping a wooden spoon handle under the lid for the last hour or so of cooking time.
ReplyDelete(First time on your blog and I love it! I'm using the arrow keys to scroll so the mouse is at the perfect position to click "older posts" when I reach the bottom.)
I'm so behind on all my favorite blogs that I'm playing catchup today. I just saw this thinking "This pin sounds familiar" and sure enough, you pinned it from me. lol I tried this recipe and made a boo-boo. I should have wrote down the weight of the chicken before going to the store and the chicken was bigger than I should have gotten. I don't even remember the outcome but I should retry and actually follow the directions (imagine that).
