Pinterest Bacon

I've spotted this pin on Pinterest a billion times, the one about cooking bacon in the oven?  And I was all, "Cook it in the oven? You mean I could be cooking bacon AND doing nothing at the same time?"

I had to try it.

Turn your oven to 400 degrees and line a rimmed cookie sheet with some foil.  Ever so gently place your bacon atop the foil.  Atop.  I like that word.

Bake it in the oven for about 12 to 15 minutes.

Lay the bacon on a paper towel to de-grease.

This method is awesome.  My only complaint is that my cookie sheet isn't big enough to make more bacon.  'Cause if bacon's being made, we're going all the way.  And I'm eating it.  I might share some.

After it's all done, wait until the foil cools, crumble it up and throw it out.  Easy!

  1. When I was first married, I thought enduring popping bacon grease was the way to show my love. Sigh. Then we bought a microwave, and I could "show my love" all the time! No painful grease pops. I haven't tried it in the oven, and I think I will wait until our heat wave passes. But it sure does look good.

  2. The oven is the only way I cook it now. If you overlap the bacon ever so slightly (it shrinks) you can fit more on the sheet.

Grammy: If you have a small(perhaps a $1 store tinfoil) pan that will fit on your grill outside, cook it there without heating up your house.

  3. Maybe that's why it's called BAC-on. lol Actually, when I first learned I could do that, I felt exactly the same way. What a time and mess saver it is!! :-) And it just doesn't seem the same in the microwave, for some reason.

  4. Definitely the RIMMED baking sheet. We once tried to improvise at my dad's house with a regular cookie sheet and nearly started a fire with the grease dripping off into the gas oven!

  5. Isn't it amazing like this!! This is how we do it every time now!! No more bacon grease all over!!

  6. I tried it this weekend, too. We cooked some in a pan, traditionally, and some in the oven, so we could taste test the two and compare! The oven bacon went over very well. It reminds me of restaurant bacon. :)

  7. I'm a bacon-cooker-in-the-oven gal. I don't have the patience for the skillet method.

  8. Brilliant. No more grease splattering on my stove top.

  9. so...what if you nested a gridded cookie cooling rack in the rimmed baking sheet and place the bacon on it to cook in the oven...would that allow you more grease free bacon? Must try that...

  10. If you cook it on a broiling pan all the grease goes through to the under pan! It is pretty awesome!

started doing this this summer - it's my son's new "chocolate". and had it today with the first tomato from my garden!!!

  12. If you put the bacon on a cookie (cooling) sheet, and then place that on your cookie sheet (that is lined with tin foil) you have a LOT less grease in the bacon and it is just as yummy. Clean up is easy too! Also, if you are a true southern woman, you know exactly what to do with that left over bacon grease (and throwing it out is not an option). lol!

I love all the comments I get from you! Because of an insane amount of spam, I had to turn off anonymous commenting but I'd love it if you'd comment anyway!
