This idea was much needed in my kitchen. I mean, if I had a nickel every time I needed a spatula and had to dig through any three (YES, THREE) drawers that hold the spatulas only to have to use tongs instead 'cause that's all I could find, I'd be wealthy.
I looked for a good container for these utensils to be housed in, something pretty but not ridiculously priced. I was coming up empty, for reals.
And then, I found it. At Goodwill. I told you about it... yes, I did. I think you're getting distracted with real life and it's getting in the way of our relationship. I'm considering couples counseling for you and I. Check out that post here... and here's what I did with it.
Hubbers liked the green on the handle and at the top. Actually, hubbers liked the whole thing, leaves and all. But this isn't hubbers project, now is it? I decided to be generous and taped off the handle and rim.
I found this spray paint at Hobby Lobby and used a 40% off coupon to buy it.
I have always wanted to use textured spray paint! (That was one of my life goals. I don't get out much.)
I sprayed the pitcher. And sprayed it again. And again. This spray paint went on really well but several coats were needed to cover up those leaves.
See? Texture! Once it dried, I took off the tape and put it in place. And I'll never want for my favorite spatula again.

That is one amazing transformation! What a great find and a great project!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I was going to say the same thing! Love it. You have to look at these finds with an eye to what it *could* be, rather than what it is now. Good job!
ReplyDeleteHow generous of you to leave the green for your husband :). The stone texture looks great. I too have been a store my utensils in a drawer kind of a girl but I might have to look for a container now too.
ReplyDeleteAmazing that spray paint can give that look of texture!
ReplyDeleteI love it! It looks awesome. And you're totally right about Giada and her teeth.
ReplyDeleteCame out great! I agree about the teeth thing...I've also thought her head is akwardly too big for her little body. I can't even watch her cause it's so distracting to me. lol
