I'm starting with this project because it was so much fun to make. And, it took about seven seconds to put together. And, IT IS AWESOME.
You can make your own faux candles. IS THAT NOT AWESOME?
Break out your trusty toilet paper rolls and some electric tealights. Split the toilet paper rolls up the sides:
And then measure them around your tealights. Once you've got your proper measurement, hot glue the sides back together. This helps your tealight fit snugly inside. If you do this well enough, you won't need to stuff the faux candle to hold the tealight at the top. Anyhoo... let's move on.
Since you've got the hot glue gun nice and hot, use it to make some fake wax drippings. Hot glue is awesome for fake wax drippings.
With your tealights out of the tube, spray paint them black. One good coat should do the job. For the top of the tealights, I grabbed some scrap felt and cut out circles. A little notch in the top to slip the fake flame through and voila... I HAD FAKE CANDLES.
I love these... really, they are one of my favorite projects this year... and they cost almost nothing! Happy Halloween!

DeleteWhen I think you can't WOW me anymore, along comes these candles. I am beyond WOW. How about a WOWZER? Seriously, these are great. (And I know you've already thought about a different color of paint for Christmas candles, haven't you?) Now see, this is why I cringe when I throw away toilet paper tubes or paper towel tubes. I just know there is another use for them. Maybe I should just have a big box to save those valuable things for you???? These look fantastic!

ReplyDeleteGenius! And I have all the makings already! I use these tea lights on their own each year at Christmas on the mantle, and then pack them away into Halloween stuff for use with my porch decorations. I love that both holidays can enjoy this upgrade this year!

ReplyDeleteYou have THE best craft ideas! So glad I found your page. I save tp & paper towel rolls (never sure why at the time) ... I use them to store electrical cords, last years I cut "eyes" in them and put a glow stick inside then in the bushes for Halloween. I've seen other ideas, but these are the best by far ~ thanks for sharing!
