31 Days of Halloween - Glittery Gourds

Truly, I think I need to buy stock in a glitter company.  I have single-handedly kept glitter a valuable commodity... just doing my part to stimulate the crafty economy.

For this project, I bought some foam gourds from Michael's.  Now, I try not to pick favorites between craft stores, but I will tell you that I bought some from Hobby Lobby too and the ones from Michael's were cheaper and they had more in the package.  Just keepin' it real.

And, as I usually do, I grabbed my autumn-y glitter.

I love when they sell packs of glitter that are seasonal colors, it makes my job so much easier.  I used a toothpick to spear each gourd...

Looks like that hurts.  After that, I broke out the Elmer's glue and used a foam brush to give the entire gourd a good coating.  I covered it in glitter and kept on moving.  A million gourds later, and I was done.  There aren't any pictures of this step because it's hard to use a camera with glue-y hands.

I piled them up onto a cake stand that I found at Goodwill and painted... It was perfect for these little gourds!

That gold glitter one reminds me of the turkey neck you find in the cavity of the bird on Thanksgiving.  That's why I left it front and center, I'm totally ready for the holidays.  I added some LED tealights for a pretty little glow...

Don't you love what an entire case of glitter can do? :)

  1. Your gourds look glittery and oh so pretty. I love the look of things dipped and covered in glitter BUT I always find one piece of glitter has attached itself to my forehead and will not be freed. I'll catch the light just right and have a glimmer from the glitter. Sometimes crafting can be tough :)
