Summer. It comes every year, but I seem to forget all the small details: sopping wet swimsuits, fights with a pool noodle, getting threatened with a time-out because your husband didn't want to get hit with a pool noodle...
You've gotta love summer.
Luckily for me, Jo-Ann Fabric has a great catalog of craft ideas to keep the kids entertained. And if you play your cards right, you might just avoid that time-out for a day or two.
Check out the catalog here. There are so many fun ideas and Jo-Ann's gives you a list of the supplies you'll need to make the projects. I chose this one:
It's a window box! So cute and so easy, I knew the kids would love to make it.
I gathered all my supplies and put the whole family to work. First, the hubs and Noah (wearing a Transformers costume, naturally) went to work priming the box:
And then Jonathan and Noah painted the box:
And then it was time for me to finally do some work. By then, the family had resented my shouting orders at them anyway, so I had to pull my own weight.
I used a vinyl stencil to paint a little plant on the front...
And then I glued some wooden animals to the front. I added a plant and called it a day... look how adorable it is!
Isn't it the cutest little thing? And it was a family effort, so we are all proud of it. Unfortunately, I touted it to my family as a 'kids' project, so they won't let me keep it in my room. Fiddlesticks.
Compare the picture in the catalog to my finished project...
I think we did pretty well...
